August’s ACAMS AML Professional of the Month was awarded to Pavan Kumar Muttireddy, CAMS. Muttireddy was recognized for his mentorship in the anti-money laundering (AML) field. Muttireddy is the director for Visa’s Southeast Asia risk services based in Singapore. He is responsible for championing security in the industry and maintaining the integrity of the payments ecosystem. Prior to joining Visa risk services, he was the director for AML compliance for the Visa Asia-Pacific region, preceded by similar responsibility for Central Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
Muttireddy has over 14 years of financial crime control experience spanning across banking, technology and the payment cards industry. He has donned various roles across AML, regulatory and advisory compliance, sanctions screening, watchlist management, card fraud analytics, fraud prevention and detection, know your customer, customer due diligence and risk management.
Muttireddy has conducted several workshops in various countries, driven key Central Bank engagements and spoken across several conferences on diverse AML- and sanctions-related topics. His achievements include successful migrations and implementation of operational processes, project management, driving solutions to meet financial intelligence unit reporting requirements and resolving regulatory concerns to aid the launch of new businesses and products in the market.
In addition to being a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist, he is a Green Belt in Six Sigma and his Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) V3 foundation certification complements his proficiency in the software development life cycle (SDLC) and IT service delivery. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electronics and communications from MITS in Rayagada, India.
