Kitty Wut was born and raised in Hong Kong and attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa in Honolulu, where she graduated with the degree of Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and started working in a small, local certified public accountant (CPA) firm. A few years later, Wut left Honolulu to further her studies. She then graduated from San Diego State University with a Master of Science in Accountancy degree. She returned to Honolulu and passed the CPA examination, becoming a CPA. Wut started working in a small local bank as a financial analyst during her first few years. She subsequently transferred to the Internal Audit Division and helped develop the audit program for the bank’s Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) audit. Eventually, Wut moved on to her current employer, First Hawaiian Bank. Wut has been with First Hawaiian Bank for 13 years, where she was with the BSA Division for almost two years and the Audit Division for 11 years. Wut has been heavily involved with the annual BSA audit, helping the bank enhance its controls and procedures and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements. In addition, Wut has been a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) since 2013.
