It is with great remorse that ACAMS Today announces the passing of longtime ACAMS supporter and anti-money laundering (AML) professional Anna McDonald Rentschler, CAMS, who passed peacefully in the company of her family on July 23, 2025.  

Rentschler served for 36 years at Central Bancompany until her retirement in 2018 in the role of vice president and Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) officer. In this position, she was responsible for the enterprise-wide development and oversight of BSA policy and procedures, overall enterprise-wide risk assessment, risk rating of accounts, suspicious activity reports, currency transaction reports, exemptions and the customer identification program, among other duties. Rentschler received the 2017 ACAMS AML Career Dedication Award and the 2008 Distinguished Service Award from the American Bankers Association. She served as a member of the ACAMS Advisory Board from 2013 to 2018 and was a longtime contributor to the ACAMS Today magazine.  

Born in Dallas, Texas, Rentschler attended Richardson High School in Richardson, Texas, and later graduated from Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, with a bachelor’s degree in business administration in 1974. She married her husband, Chuck, in 1988 and went on to raise three children and several grandchildren, whom she adored. In addition to her family and career, Rentschler was an active volunteer in her community, serving in roles including former president and active member of the Kiwanis Club of Mexico, Missouri; former president and treasurer for Chapter HD of the Philanthropic Educational Organization (P.E.O.); executive director and supporter of the United Way of Audrain County; member of the First Presbyterian Church; and member of the Parent Teacher Association during her children’s education. 

Memorial services will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, July 28, at the First Presbyterian Church in Mexico. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the following organizations: the United Way of Audrain County, Chapter HD of P.E.O. or Audrain County Crisis Intervention Services
