Marbel Guilamo Peña

The AFC Professional of the Month for July was awarded to Marbel Guilamo Peña for his expertise and his dedication to fighting financial crime. Guilamo Peña has a degree in business administration and a master's degree in logistics from the Escuela de Oganización Industrial (EOI) in Madrid, Spain. He is a specialized technician in logistics for the European Union and a corporate finance specialist. Guilamo Peña is currently studying for master's degrees in compliance, financial and accounting management, as well as political marketing and communication.

Guilamo Peña currently works at Banco de Reservas as manager of the Ethical Compliance, Anti-Bribery and Anti-Corruption Division, where he is responsible for guaranteeing compliance with regulations and meeting the standards and mandates related to ethics, anti-corruption and anti-bribery in the different units that make up the bank and its subsidiaries. He also advises senior management and the board of directors on these aspects. In addition, he is the honorary advisor of CoopReservas.

Guilamo Peña is a specialist in money laundering issues, economic issues, the stock market and investments, crime prevention techniques and investigation of the U.S. Interamerican Community Affairs. He is certified as an anti-bribery leading senior implementer and risk manager by the PECB of Canada. Additional certifications include Operational and Reputational Risk by the Organization of Relatives of Missing Cypriots (ORMC) in London, U.K.

In his 20 years of experience in banking, he has contributed significantly to the areas of banking regulations, compliance operations, corporate governance, ethical processes and process management, among others.

He is also a lecturer, columnist, university professor of money laundering at Universidad Iberoamericana (UNIBE) and member of the ACAMS Today Español editorial committee.
